Drawing and Watercolour Lessons 6 week courses for adult beginners and improvers The course is aimed at beginners, improvers and anyone interested in the basics of drawing and painting. I encourage students to really "see" what they are looking at - often for the first time, which therefore helps with drawing and interpreting any subject. The course goes on to cover tone (often a problem in paintings), simple ways to overcome problems with perspective, colour mixing and painting techniques. I believe that anyone can learn to draw and paint well enough to express themselves through art.More than anything, I think that learning should be a happy experience. The exercises I give take concentration and time and involve real awakening of creativity. It is not necessary to have any experience at all; I have found that this approach helps people of all levels. I aim to give students all the tools and techniques that I have found helpful. I also run follow-on courses for those who wish to keep up the momentum and put the methods into practice. Please contact me for more details. For the first lesson the only materials necessary are a very cheap sketching book (no more than 40c!), a '2B' pencil and a rubber.. We will then discuss what materials you need for the rest of the course. As I teach with watercolour the materials are relatively inexpensive and quite economical. The theory is relevant to other media too. |
