Art in a strange time -2020/1/2
Being 'locked' in the studio for an unpredictable period of time during one of the strangest times in history has been - oddly - very inspiring.
My first reaction was to just throw paint at a board.
Random colourless marks of frustration and incredulity. How could this have happened?
Then I began to see the beauty in those marks, and how perhaps, in our enforced separation, we could find ourselves in the maze of our fears and uncertainties. And if we learnt to listen to ourselves above the chatter, perhaps we'd find a way to reconnect to what is most important to each of us.
Life will never be the same again, so when we look back on 2020, what will we be able to say we did with this time of enforced reflection?

Something I will be able to look back on will be exploring life drawing online. Many groups moved their life classes to zoom, and all of a sudden there were not only the usual challenges of foreshortening and capturing the essence of a live person, now there were camera distortions too.
I struggled at first, but then embarked on a whole new adventure!
