LIve Music Paintings

For many years I have painted at live outdoor music and dance events. I don't attempt to produce 'photographic' paintings on the spot; they are more impressionistic responses to the stimuli of sound, colour, movement and the general atmosphere. I try not to work on them too much afterwards as that tends to kill the spontaneity of the moment, and that's what the challenge is for me - to capture everything as fast as I can so that the music and movement still plays in the paintings.....

All works are acrylic on gessoed paper and approximately 70 x 50 cm.
