Morning, Mizieb Here we go!! On Saturday 6th April I am starting a new course of basic classes in Drawing and Watercolour at Sistina Art shop in Gzira. I will go over all the essentials of drawing; line, tone, perspective, composition, measuring etc, and the basic theory and techniques of watercolour painting. Complete beginners and anyone who needs to go over the basics are more than welcome! Classes are from 4.30 - 7pm. 120 euro for the 6 week structured course. On Sunday 7th April the Creativity Workshops will begin again - more adventures in discovering new paths to inspiration and making pictures in different ways. Drawing skills are still emphasised (I think they are essential) and also pushing the boundaries to see just where the journey takes us! Sunday mornings, 10am - 12.30 pm in my studio in Manikata (lovely drive, and no parking problems!) 20 euro for prebooked classes, 23 for drop-ins. AND the Fab gardens of Villa Bologna in Attard are welcoming us back for another series of outdoor classes. We start on Friday 19th April 10 am - 12.30pm. All levels are welcome, and although I usually use watercolours, any other medium is welcome too. I encourage experimentation and freedom, so expect to surprise yourself too! 20 euro for prebooked classes, 23 for drop-ins. For more info, please contact me by clicking the 'Button' above and filling in the form. Springingly Yours Jeni :-) So, the Maltese Elections are finally over and we can settle down to life again! It was quite a roller coaster and now we have to see how the New Broom performs.....
And along with that, new classes for Spring! I will be starting a basic course in drawing and watercolours on Saturday afternoons beginning on April 6th at Sistina Art shop in Gzira, and a new series of creativity workshops on Sunday mornings on April 7th in Manikata. I have to finalise things with them, but I am also going to start up the outdoor classes in the beautiful grounds of Villa Bologna too - probably on Friday mornings. For more details and contact forms, please click the 'BUTTON' above! Let's paint our way into Spring before the heat of Summer hits us! The Way of Wisdom. I have been REALLY busy lately getting my two new websites up and running.... They still have a lot more to go into them but at least they are off the ground now and I can 'play' with them. The first one is The Wisestones of Malta and it shows all (or it will do, anyway) the work I have done in the prehistoric Temples of Malta. They have fascinated me ever since I first came to live in Malta, and I have had several exhibitions on the subject. I find them endlessly inspiring - for me, they echo with the memories of ancient wisdom. They date back to a time before the pyramids, when a matriarchal society lived in peace with the environment and each other. No weaponry was found among the ruins, and also very little evidence of habitation, so the mystery remains; why is tiny Malta littered with so many Temples? Painting always helps me to slip into an altered state, and I think that connection channels into the work I do there. I have been feeling the need to reconnect with the subject in a new way for some time now, adding new experiences and inspirations..... charcoal on velour, 40 x 30 cms ...... and in the meantime, a bit of fun! I find that when I am working on things like landscapes (which I have been doing for a while now in preparation for my exhibition in May) I have to stop myself from getting too 'picky'. A good antidote is to stop and do something completely different, and as I have many, many sketches from live models in the studio, I have been working them up in as loose a fashion as possible. Getting away from the full-colour landscapes, I have worked in monochrome - ink, charcoal, paint... and then I thought that if I could do fifty it would make a great collection! So the new website Fifty Shades of Grey Nudes is charting my progress - I have just put the 20th painting on there! Check them out and let me know what you think!! woooo hooooo!! Really excited about this - I will be showing people how to reach that beautiful, timeless state of just Being by using simple drawing techniques to connect to themselves and Nature at her finest.
